Markham-Unionville Updates 

   

Merry Christmas - I want to wish everyone in Markham-Unionville and across Ontario a Merry Christmas. May the Christmas spirit be shared joyfully and peacefully amongst us all. Watch here.

   
 

weCANchallenge - I have accepted the #weCANchallenge to support local food banks, during this season, by shopping canned items and donating it to a food drive box. Thank you to We Can Challenge for creating this great initiative. Click here.

   

More Support for Markham - The $2.815 million in additional funding will help the City of Markham develop a 2021 budget that reflects the reality of COVID-19 and give them the confidence they need to proceed with capital projects that will drive economic growth. For more, click here.

   
   

Meetings and Celebrations

   

Scarborough Chinese Alliance Church - Thank you for organizing and sharing with me your Christmas Food Drive. During this holiday season, I urge constituents of Markham-Unionville, if able, to support and donate to our local food banks.

   
SSE Care Solutions’ Donation to MSH - Thank you to local Markham manufacturer, SSE Care Solutions Inc, for donating 50,000 surgical masks to Markham Stouffville Hospital. Your generous and responsive donation will further support our local front line heroes as our province continues to fight against COVID-19.

   

Donor Appreciation Event - It was a pleasure to attend the Donor Appreciation event, hosted by the MPP of Don Valley North, Vincent Ke, and special guest appearance Premier Ford. I want to thank our local businesses and organizations for supporting our frontline heroes, hospitals, LTC and retirement homes during this time.

   

Yellow Brick House - It was great to connect to learn more about the organization’s operation and the support they provide to children and women in Markham-Unionville and York Region who are impacted by violence.

   

Queen's Park

   

Member’s Statement (Nov 17th) - For 50 years, Unionville Home Society, staff and volunteers have given outstanding care to their long-term care residents through kindness, love and respect. I want to congratulate this facility and members for this significant milestone.

   
 

Member’s Statement (Nov 26) - SSE Care Solutions Inc. is a local surgical mask manufacturer located in Markham. I want to thank the company for donating 12,000 surgical masks to each facility, Bethany Lodge LTC and Union Villa LTC. It was a pleasure to connect and witness this generous donation.

   

Budget Motion - It was a pleasure to speak on the Budget Motion. Ontario’s Action Plan: Protect, Support, Recover is a 3-year, $45B plan to protect the people of Ontario, support people and jobs & build a strong foundation for economic recovery.

   

Main Street Recovery Act, 2020 - I had the opportunity to voice my support on Bill 215. Our new Main Street Recovery Plan builds on more than $10 billion in urgent relief and support provided through the COVID-19 Action Plan — while maintaining or enhancing protections for public health, safety and the environment.

   

Provincial Updates

   

Ontario is ordering a Provincewide Shutdown requiring Ontarians to stay at home as much as possible to stop the spread of COVID-19. These measures will protect health system capacity and save lives by breaking the current trend of COVID-19 transmission. For more, click here

MHSTCI White Paper - We’re asking for stakeholder feedback on a White Paper that will help develop a strategic five-year plan for Ontario’s heritage, sport, tourism and culture industries to re-emerge as a global leader after the COVID-19 pandemic. For more click here.

   

Long Term Care Staffing Plan - We are launching one of the largest recruitment and training drives in the province’s history to deliver on our commitment to improve care for seniors in long-term care homes. Learn more

   
Ontario Expands COVID-19 Vaccine Locations - Ontario's vaccine supply will arrive in stages. As we continue to roll out the vaccines, it is critical that Ontarians continue following the public health measures and celebrate safely, especially during the holiday season. For moreclick here.
