Markham-Unionville Updates

New Role - I’m thrilled to announce my new appointment as the Parliamentary Assistant to The Hon. Parm Gill, the Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism. I look forward to working with Minister Gill as we continue to make Ontario a more inclusive place for everyone.

Soccer City Visitation with Premier Ford - I was pleased to visit the vaccine drive-through location at Soccer City alongside Premier Ford, Mayor Lovatt and Dr. Yang. Thanks to the efforts of Team Ontario, we are making tremendous progress in our vaccine rollout by helping to protect communities who are at the greatest risk of exposure to COVID-19 and its variants.

Mon Sheong Markham Long-Term Care - It was fantastic to have Minister Clark visit the future long-term care site in Markham-Unionville. This facility will include 160 new, state-of-the-art LTC beds for its resident seniors and LTC patients. Congratulations to Mon Sheong Foundation on your new LTC project. As a government we are getting shovels in the ground.

Ontario Enters Step Three – Thanks to our healthcare heroes and Ontarians who have received their vaccinations, we can now begin to return to things we’ve missed such as going to concerts, shopping or eating in your favourite restaurant. Learn more: Ontario.ca/reopen

Seniors Month Celebration - I was honoured to have the Hon. Raymond Cho, Minister of Seniors and Accessibility, and his PA MPP Daisy Wai join us as we celebrated Senior Month with the Unionville Home Society (UHS). Thanks also to the CEO of UHS, Abby Katz Starr and her team for organizing the event.

We learned valuable information on ways to protect ourselves against home invasions, residential break and enter, and tips for personal safety. Thank you to all who attended.

Italian Heritage Month – We very much enjoyed supporting local business in our Italian community as we celebrated Italian Heritage Month in June by ordering delicious food from Il Postino. Click here to watch.

Markham-Unionville Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) - It was my pleasure to meet with Marg Esaw, Sandra Mallory and Barbara Bernabe to learn about the CFUW’s views and insights on Bill 251 - Combating Human Trafficking Act, 2021. This bill has received its Royal assent.

#OntarioSpirit – Thank you, Nana Sun, Wang Hao and parents from the Life Education and Growth Association Canada who kindly donated 4,000 masks and 2 boxes of hand sanitizers to 360°kids. Thanks also to Ivy Huang for the introduction. I was delighted to participate and witness this generous donation.
