Markham-Unionville Updates 


PMB, Bill 270 - Thank you to all the senior volunteers and related organizations for joining my second consultation for PMB Bill 270. I received valuable feedback, and was enlightened about the many ways volunteering enriches the life of seniors and the communities they reside in.



PMB, Bill 112 Receives Royal Assent - I am honored to announce that my first PMB Bill 112: Lupus Awareness Day Act received Royal Assent. This Bill recognizes May 10th as Lupus Awareness Day each year. I thank the communities and organizations across Ontario for their overwhelming support toward this Bill.


Virtual Meetings and Roundtables


Volunteer Markham - Congratulations to Volunteer Markham for receiving funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Resilient Communities Fund. Alongside a representative from OTF, I was delighted to discover how this grant will support Volunteer Markham and its initiative to further engage with volunteers in Markham-Unionville and surrounding communities.

Chinese Moving Well Community Centre - Congratulations to this organization for being one of the Senior Community Grant Program recipients! I enjoyed meeting some of its dedicated members, and to learn more about how this funding will help support the organization’s initiatives.


Queen's Park


Bill 282 - I was delighted to rise in the House to speak and voice my support for Bill 282: Moving Ontarians More Safely Act, 2021. If passed, this Bill will make our roads safer by targeting those who engage in dangerous acts of stunt and speed driving. Watch me make remarks here.


Member’s Statement (Queen’s Park Virtual Tour) - During Spring Break this April, I was happy to host this Virtual Tour. Attendees enjoyed this online event and gained new insights about the many ways I serve Markham-Unionville in my role as your MPP. Click here to watch.


Anti-Asian Racism Roundtable - I was pleased to join Minister Lecce and my colleagues to announce our government’s funding for equity programs in partnership with community organizations to combat anti-Asian racism in Ontario. Click here to learn more.

AMO - As the PA to Minister MacLeod, I was glad to attend the AMO meeting in company with my colleagues to listen to local concerns from municipalities and to review ways in which our government can further support them during this challenging time.

New Ontario Tourism and Travel Small Business Support Grant - Applications are now open for this grant, which can provide payments of $10,000 - $20,000 to eligible small tourism businesses and travel agencies. To apply and for information about support, visit:



Expansion of COVID-19 Vaccine Booking Eligibility - Individuals aged 18 and over can now book their COVID-19 vaccine appointment at a mass immunization clinic. For details, visit: or York Regional Public Health booking system.

#KeepingKidsSafe - Ontario is preparing to administer the vaccine to youths between the ages of 12-17, beginning on May 31, 2021. This will bring us one step closer to normalcy for our students and will help our province towards recovery from COVID-19. Learn more here.


Supporting Innovation in Virtual Learning - Supporting Innovation in Virtual Learning for Postsecondary Institutions - The Ontario government is positioning Ontario to be a global leader in virtual learning by supporting nearly 400 virtual learning projects developed by our province’s postsecondary educational institutions.
