Minister’s Award of Excellence - I would like to congratulate Dr. Frank Merante of Markham-Unionville for receiving a Minister's Excellence Awards from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.



Meeting with Organizations


360º kids - In partnership with Markham Inter Church Committee for Affordable Housing and funding from Ontario Trillium Foundation's GROW grant, 360ºkids announced permanent housing for two bright youths in their newly constructed apartment. Thanks for having me!


Metrolinx - I had a great conversation with Metrolinx. The agency shared with me some insight from their Public Consultation, which is part of Metrolinx's GO Expansion Program.



Community Engagement and Family Support Centre - I was happy to join C.E.F.S Centre to distribute food hampers for most seniors living in the Markham area.


Financial Accountability

The Retired Teachers of Ontario - RTO/ERO is the largest non-profit organization that provides group health insurance for the education retiree community. Thank you for sharing with me more about your organization and advocacy for senior healthcare, the environment and ageing population.



BookLand Press Inc - Congratulations to BookLand Press for being a recipient of Ontario Creates' Ontario Creates Export Fund - Book. Organizations like yours enrich people's lives in the creative community of Markham-Unionville.



Queen's Park 



Supporting Local Festivals and Events - It was a pleasure to join the Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, Hon. Lisa MacLeod, Music Together and Santa Claus Parade as our government announces a new $9M festival and event fund to reconnect Ontarians with their local communities. For more, click here.



I feel fortunate to be part of the Standing Committee on Government Agencies, an all-party committee that reviews the intended Order in Council appointments for newly appointed or promoted individuals to agencies and other entities. As a member of this Committee, I play a role in interviewing intended appointees and reporting back to the Legislature of my insight afterwards






The Soldiers’ Aid Commission Act, 2020 -Our veterans have made tremendous sacrifices to make the province and country it is. If passed, The Soldiers’ Aid Commission Act, 2020, will ensure that the reach of the Soldiers’ Aid Commission is extended to all veterans and their families. I was pleased to speak for the Bill. Watch here.



Member’s Statement (360º kids) -360ºkids is a wonderful organization that aims to help youth overcome crisis and support their transition to a state of safety and stability. I want to thank the organization for its services and great contribution to communities in York Region. Watch here.







Member’s Statement (World Vision Markham-Unionville: Walk for Clean Water)  -Following health protocols and in combination with four teams, the event fundraised over $10,000 to support clean water projects for kids in the Menkao region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Watch here

York Region Added to List of Areas of Higher Community Spread - We are protecting residents and staff by pausing short-term & temporary absences, and non-essential visitors from long term care homes in York Region, a new area of higher community spread. For more, click here



Temporarily Enhancing Wages for Personal Support Workers - Ontario is investing up to $461M to temporarily increase wages for eligible PSWs & direct support workers to attract and retain the workforce needed to care for patients, clients and residents in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Releasing $35M to Hire More Staff, Improve Remote learning in Targeted Communities- As we enter the flu season, we're taking every preventative measure possible to ensure students and staff remain safe. By delivering $35M on top of our existing $1.3B investment, we are helping protect higher-risk communities. For more, click here.
